TITLE:      Project Specialist – Justice Services – BILINGUAL PREFERRED

HOURS: Full time – 40 hours per week

STATUS: Non-exempt.

Monday – Friday

RATE OF PAY: $20 an hour plus $1 bilingual allowance

JOB OVERVIEW

This position reports to the Justice Services Operations Manager. As a member of the Justice Services Team, the Project Specialist is responsible for providing coordination and support for programs that serve justice-involved individuals who are adults and youth. This position will handle multiple responsibilities that include managing data collection, creating reports, data entry, assisting with subcontractor billing, and supporting the Operations Manager.

DUTIES

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community partners including county agencies, law enforcement, community-based organizations, service networks, and funders.
  • Develop and/or maintain content expertise in the field of reentry and justice-involved individuals and families.
  • Organize and monitor data collection efforts to and support departments weekly, monthly, quarterly, and biannual data reporting, compilation and writing of data reports.
  • Review and process referrals, intakes, and invoices from partnering agencies.
  • Effectively use technology as a tool to provide technical assistance, coaching, training, and daily work.
  • Organize meetings using face-to-face and electronic mediums to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Communicate complex ideas in a clear and organized manner, both in writing and orally, as assigned.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and distribution of electronic materials.
  • Support a positive working environment and work successfully as a member of a team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide fidelity monitoring of evidence-based curricula utilized by Justice Services staff, which can include Seeking Safety and Change Companies Interactive Journaling.
  • Provide quality assurance of data input from JS team members, provide feedback and additional training if identified.

QUALIFICATIONS

B.A. in psychology, sociology, criminal justice or related fields preferred or three years of equivalent work experience. Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competencies, value diversity, and an ability to assess oneself. Ability to develop respectful and supportive relationships with key partners, funders and stakeholders. Experience and knowledge of Ventura County community resources preferred. Working knowledge of the needs of those reentering the community and family members of those who have been incarcerated is required. Successful candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle complex project coordination tasks.  Experience/knowledge of evidence-based practices and programs is preferred. Must be flexible and organized, self-directed and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with groups and support all daily operations.  Skilled use of computer programs to include Survey Monkey, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required. The ability to travel extensively within Ventura County is required. Successful background and criminal clearance required and maintained, including but not limited to California Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, Child Abuse Index and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).  Proof of a valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, proof of automobile insurance (listed as covered), pass and maintain driving approval as required by our insurer. This position may require additional security clearances to successfully participate in this role.
