- DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: Job Corps provides an opportunity for low income youth (16-24) to earn a high school diploma, GED (if needed), higher education degrees (for those who qualify), and job training in over 100 occupations. Occupations include licensed vocational nurses, computer programming, culinary arts, auto mechanics, etc. Enrollees receive all training free of charge as well as no charge for room and board (on campus). Medical, dental, vision care, clothing allowance, spending money and savings account are provided. There are no loans to pay back. Job Corps Centers are located across the country. Ventura County applicants would be assigned to a center in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Bernardino, Sacramento, San Jose, Reno, Nevada, Tucson, Arizona, Clearfield, Utah or centers located in the State of Oregon. Round trip transportation is provided. Enrollment waiting list varies for men and women. Many openings available for women.
